The 2011-2012 North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) announced new officers and sat for its first meeting on June 13, 2011 following its annual election. Officers were elected by the council members in a private executive session and announced in the public meeting.
2011-2012 NEWNC Officers
President – Donna Freni
Vice-President – Marie Simboli
Secretary – Bill Lane
Donna Freni replaces Stephen Passacantilli as NEWNC President. Passacantilli served as President for the past two years. Marie Simboli continues in the Vice-President position that she has also held for the last two years. Bill Lane replaces the late Mario Alfano as Secretary, returning to a role he previously held on the council.
There are a total of 11 members on the Neighborhood Council. In addition to the officers listed above, voting members on the council include Philip Frattaroli, Ryan Kenny, David Marx, Jorge Mendoza, Stephen Passacantilli, Jonathan Sproul, Anne Devlin Tagliaferro and Giancarlo Tiberi. The council can have up to 12 members, but has decided not to fill the one-year left in the term of the late Mario Alfano.
For the first time in North End / Waterfront history, two women are simultaneously President of both neighborhood groups. In addition to Ms. Freni as President of NEWNC, Stephanie Hogue is the President of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA).
