This video captures a sneak peek of the Harbor Islands Pavilion with an interview and tour by Bruce Jacobson, Superintendent from the National Park Service. The official opening is Thursday, June 2nd but the park rangers were staffing the facility this weekend as part of a soft opening.
After 18 months of construction, the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance and National Park Service are putting on the final touches for the grand opening of the Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion on the Greenway, across from Christopher Columbus Park. The Pavilion will serve as a gateway to the islands which are accessible from the ferry terminal across the street at Christopher Columbus Park and Long Wharf.
The Harbor Islands Pavilion opens on the Greenway on Thursday, June 2, 2011 with a ceremony planned for 11:00 a.m. Officials from the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance, National Park Service, Governor Deval Patrick, Mayor Thomas Menino and Vicki Kennedy. The pavilion is located on the Wharf District Parks, Parcel 14 of the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, next to the carousel on Atlantic Avenue.
