On January 30, six of the North End’s finest restaurants are joining together to celebrate the 6th annual CityFeast: Dining Out to Conquer Diabetes to support the Joslin Diabetes Center by hosting special five-course dinners with wine pairings. This local event is a great way for North End residents to get involved in the fight against diabetes while also enjoying a tasty meal at their favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Carla Gomes, the mother of a child with diabetes and owner of both Antico Forno and Terramia in the North End, founded CityFeast to help raise awareness of the disease and support Joslin Diabetes Center’s mission of conquering diabetes in all of its forms. Carla’s son David was diagnosed on his first birthday and has been living with this terrible disease for the past 18 years. Juvenile diabetes (Type 1 diabetes) is an autoimmune disease that strikes children suddenly and forces lifelong insulin dependence and can cause long term devastating health complications if not treated appropriately.
Participating restaurants include Terramia, Antico Forno, Lucca, Tresca, Caffé Graffiti and Taranta.
