The North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) will be voting on three alcohol licensing issues at its meeting scheduled for Monday, January 10, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at the Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet Street. NEWNC meetings are open to the public.
Here are the three applications coming before NEWNC next Monday:
Marisa Iocco is applying for a transfer of the Common Victualler Wine and Malt Beverages License formerly exercised by Grezzo at 69 Prince Street. The license has an 11:00 p.m. closing hour. Marisa is applying for an 11:00 p.m. closing hour Monday through Thursday, and a 12:00 a.m. closing hour Friday through Sunday. The license will be exercised at 78-80 Salem Street.
Damien DiPaola is applying for a transfer of the Common Victualler Wine and Malt Beverages with Cordials License formerly exercised at Eclano. The license has a 1:00 a.m. closing hour, and will continue to be exercised at 54 Salem Street.
Jorge Mendoza is applying for a change of closing hour for Vinoteca di Monica at 143-145 Richmond Street. The restaurant’s Common Victualler All Alcoholic Beverages License currently has an 11:00 p.m. closing hour Monday through Thursday, and a 12:00 a.m. closing hour Friday through Sunday. The application is to extend the closing hour to 1:00 a.m. seven days per week.
No sense in opposing any of these 1AM requests…once one restaurant got it, everyone knew the rest would follow. Unfair to say "yes" to one and "no" to others.
HERE WE GO……THE RUSH TO EXTENDED HOURS HAS BEGUN. WHAT A JOKE.
78 Salem St is the location of the former Michaels salon. Does't this require a zoning change BEFORE the licensing request? This is a NEW USEfor this location. Although I am a Marissa fan, WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER RESTAURANT IN THE NORTH END.
PEOPLE NEED TO GO TO THIS MEETING. ( THAT INCLUDES ME)
Didn't Monica's just change their closing ours not too long ago?
@Jimmy. No, I think they tried to extend to 1AM but were turned down by the licensing board.
