The City of Boston Archives posted these seasonal throwback photos of the 1974 North End Christmas Parade, originally taken by one of Mayor White’s staff photographers. Robert “Ted” Tomasone was still organizing things back then and of course, Santa arrived by helicopter. See photos from this year’s 45th North End Christmas Parade.
To the delight of neighborhood children (and adults), Santa flew in from the North Pole by helicopter landing on the North End fields at Puopolo & Langone Parks. Nice video – awesome job capturing the spirit of the Parade, Christmas and the NEAA – who has sponsored this parade for 40 years! Would have been even better with traditional Christmas music as background.
