The Department of Public Works will collect Christmas trees for two weeks beginning January 4th.
“I hope that every Boston resident will give the environment a present this year by properly disposing their Christmas trees and used wrapping paper,” said Mayor Menino. “Our crews will recycle the trees by composting them, which is part of our efforts to turn Beantown into Greentown.”
Residents should remove all ornaments, decorations, and stands from their Christmas trees before placing them at the curb on the day of their regular recycling collection.
Mayor Menino also reminds residents to participate in the City’s new “Recycle More” program thats allows residents to mix all recycling together, including wrapping paper.
If your building puts trash in a dumpster, trees should be placed next to the dumpster for collection. If you miss these recycling times, call 617-635-4959 for possible additional date or dates in January.
