“We hear: … that location scouts for the new Ben Affleck heist flick, “The Town,” have been scoping out banks in the North End as locations for possible robbery scenes in the upcoming made-in-Boston movie.

North End real estate baron Matteo Gallo has been showing them around and we hear the flashy-dressing bon vivant is hoping to negotiate a cameo in the flick in lieu of a broker’s fee . . .”

That was from July 29th. Now, in today’s paper,

“… the crew is … scouting the classic facade of a self-service laundromat in the North End as a possible stand-in for a bank in their bank-robber flick . . .”

  1. It’s true. One thing I hated about The Departed was how un-Boston it felt. For instance, the extras were all in business attire, while the city has gone predominantly business casual. The movie showed people walking around that don’t look like Bostonians, and the demograpic shown seems more interested in diversity than in representing what you actually see on the streets. It’s always disappointing when you see New York in a supposed Chicago street scene.

Are you upset that Boston is becoming a big movie town; for slowly but surely, it is. Lock the doors, Matt! They’re coming to film "Bikini Models Gone Borne Wild" at Union Wharf. LOL. 😀

P.S. Great weekly newsletter, as always. I like your "tabloid" style, meaning content–not layout, of course.
