Fourth Annual Waterfront New Year’s Eve Sculpture Stroll, Free Activities Announced

Waterfront Community Gives Back to Boston Residents, Visitors on New Year’s Eve

Waterfront businesses and non-profits led by Boston Harbor Now are partnering together for the fourth year in a row to provide an afternoon of free festive family-friendly activities along Boston Harbor for New Year’s Eve.

Together we have created and self-funded a family-friendly holiday stroll from 1-4 pm on December 31, 2016 along the waterfront from Charlestown through South Boston. Each site will feature a unique ice sculpture as part of the trail or a variety of refreshments and free activity.

Free programs include:

  • Second annual “Touch-a-Truck and Boat” at the Envoy Hotel, featuring six vessels and vehicles from First Responder waterfront organizations.
  • Ice cream sundaes at the Boston Public Market
  • Fire pits and hot chocolates at Battery Wharf
  • Harbor Seals at the New England Aquarium
  • Live musical performances at Faneuil Hall Marketplace
  • Hands-on model ships exhibit at USS Constitution Museum
  • Vintage map tour at Boston Harbor Hotel

Can’t pick between all the free programs, such as a one-of-a-kind chance to go hands on with a fleet of first responder vehicles, firetrucks and boats of First Responders at the Envoy Hotel, Faneuil Hall Marketplace’s “The Ice” event or a popular map tour hosted by Professor Alex Krieger in the Magellan Gallery at Boston Harbor Hotel? Why not see them all? Thanks to the generosity of the participating organizations, two “Stay-cation” prize packages will be raffled out to randomly selected visitors who snap a selfie at each ice sculpture location – so be sure to stop by the detailed Boston Light lighthouse replica at the Boston Harbor Island Welcome Center and USS Constitution frigate at the USS Constitution Museum or visit a friendly octopus, polar bear, and mermaid along the waterfront – the more stops you make, the more entries you get! Kick off the New Year with a new take on Boston’s Waterfront this season.

  • Boston Harbor Hotel
  • Boston Harbor Islands Welcome Center
