10:30AM Toddler Story Time. Join the North End Library and listen to stories, sing songs, and learn together through movement and play. This story time is ideal for little ones who have started walking or moving on their own.
11:00AM Baby Story Time at the North End Library. Enjoy gentle stories, songs, and lap bounces for pre-walking babies and caregivers.
3:30PM After-School Adventures. Drop by the North End Library after school to explore art, science, or engineering through hands-on activities. Ideal for kids 4 years old and up.
5:30PM Open House: Boston Common Master Plan. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of the Public Garden invite you to the first Boston Common Master Plan Open House on at the Bordy Theater, 216 Tremont Street. The goal of the Master Plan is to create a Common that will serve the people of Boston and visitors alike while protecting this special place for decades to come, see additional details here.
7:00PM ZLC Meeting. The October Zoning, Licensing and Construction (ZLC) Committee meeting will be held at Mariners House at 11 North Square, see additional details here.

King Tide sends water into parts of downtown Boston
In what’s becoming a more frequent occurrence in recent years, a King Tide caused flooding in parts of Boston’s wharf district yesterday afternoon as the water level reached its highest point around lunchtime, read more on WCVB.com.

3:00PM Kids’ LEGO Club. Drop by the North End Library after school to build whatever you can imagine using LEGOs and DUPLOs.
4:00PM BTU Homework Help at the North End Library. The Boston Teachers Union sponsors a Homework Helper program in each of the Boston Public Library branches. The BTU provides a teacher to help children with their homework for free.
6:00PM NEWRA Party at the Pilot House, 2 Atlantic Ave. Residents of the North End and the Waterfront are welcome to come and find out about NEWRA and learn how to get involved with your neighborhood! Costumes welcome but not required, see additional details here.

Halloween! Check out our guide for all the tricks and treats of the North End.
11:00AM Mah Jongg Club. Come by the North End Library and play the American-style variant of this tile-based game that originated in China and requires skill, strategy, and calculation. Beginners are welcome. No sign up is required. Weekly on Thursdays in October.
3:00PM 14th Annual ROC Teen Saturday Halloween Carnival. The Recovery Outreach Community (ROC) Teen Saturday program will host its 14th annual Haunted Halloween Carnival at the Nazzaro Playground. There will be rides, a bounce house, super slides, kiddie obstacle courses, food, drinks, pumpkins, face painting, movies and more, see additional information here.
3:30PM North End Trick-or-Treating. The North End Waterfront Mothers’ / Fathers’ Association (NEWMA) is once again sponsoring neighborhood trick-or-treating. In order for the holiday be a wholly inclusive celebration, NEWMA is encouraging both residents and local businesses to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project, see additional information here.
10:00PM Halloween Party at Trattoria II Panino. Join Trattoria II Panino for their 4th Annual Halloween Party. Think you have the best Halloween costume? Enter costume contest for a chance to receive $1000! All proceeds will benefit Allergy Awareness.

Discussing “The Outlaw Ocean: Journeys Across the Last Untamed Frontier” with Author & Reporter Ian Urbina
Ian Urbina, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist for the New York Times, will discuss his book, The Outlaw Ocean: Journeys Across the Last Untamed Frontier, at the New England Aquarium on November 5 at 7 p.m. The book explores the rampantly criminal world that runs lawless on the world’s oceans. Too big to police and under no clear international authority, the oceans’ vastness leaves it open to exploitation. Urbina’s research will be discussed with the nationally-syndicated environmental public radio show, “Living on Earth.”, continue reading.
