The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced a construction advisory for crosswalk rebuilding on Atlantic Avenue from Christopher Columbus Park to East Street, and the Surface Road / Purchase Street from Kneeland Street to Mercantile Street.
The work will be completed overnight Monday through Friday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. from July 15 – August 31. Jackhammering is a necessary part of this work and may occur up until 11 p.m.
Varying lane closures will be required each evening and these traffic impacts will take place at various locations along these roadways depending upon the operations being performed. Once all of the crosswalks have been re-built, each area will be milled, paved and stamped with crosswalk markings.
Work to re-build crosswalks in the North End from Mercantile Street to North Washington Street will begin later this summer.
