Bostonians Cheer on the USA Women’s World Cup Championship Team [Photo Gallery]

Hundreds came out to Boston City Hall Plaza for a viewing party on Sunday to see the championship USA women’s team defeat the Netherlands in a 2-0 win in the finals telecast from Lyons, France. This is the fourth time in the history of the World Cup that the USA woman’s team brought home the big trophy. The final game against the Netherlands came after preliminary rounds against Spain, France and England. The team also set a record of scoring 26 goals in a woman’s World Cup. Captain Megan Rapinoe scored in the final as did Rose Lavelle for the 2-0 victory. Local photographer, Gerri Palladino, captures the scene in downtown Boston.

  1. What’s the appropriate insult to the Neatherlands? Fake drinking a stein with your pinky up?

  2. Hundreds! Hundreds! That’s awesome. Hundreds. I once saw a parade in Boston, and there were like literally like hundreds of people in the packy on the corner.
