National Night Out in the North End is one of the largest of the neighborhood gatherings in all of Boston. This year was no different with hundreds coming out for fun and festivities to the Prado (Paul Revere Mall) and to strengthen partnerships between the community and Boston Police. Dozens of community groups and organizations setup tables in the Prado for the neighborhood block party with free food and music by DJ Sal.
North End Against Drugs (NEAD), sponsored by Eversource, organized the celebration in cooperation with North End Family Pride Week. Speaking at the event were Mayor Marty Walsh joined by Police Commissioner William Evans and many of his command from local District A-1.
A highlight was the presentation by District A-1 Captain Kenneth Fong of this year’s Community Service Award to the Regional Review’s Phil Orlandella for his longtime support of the North End Public Safety meetings.
A traditional candle lighting ceremony capped off North End National Night Out at the Prado fountain with dry ice creating a cool smoke effect. Take a look at the photos above with more in this gallery.
