Fanueil Hall Marketplace Announces New Lounge Activities

Faneuil Hall Marketplace gears up for a busy summer travel season with entertainment and events that enhance the already enjoyable experience it offers visitors, with complimentary outdoor activities for all ages. Folks visiting the Marketplace with their families will be able to shop, dine and spend time playing games, making art, reading, storytelling, learning magic, joining fitness classes or just relaxing at the outdoor lounge – and it’s all free! The Lounge at Faneuil Hall Marketplace is located in the South Market section of the property. Here is a preview of the fun that’s happening at the Hall all summer long:

Reading Room – An outdoor reading room under a canopy of trees and umbrellas offers an eclectic mix of free-to-borrow books, magazines, and newspapers. Special lectures, children’s story times and book signings takes place weekly and throughout the summer. Open daily, 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Open Air Art Studio – An enclave of art supplies will invite visitors to create their own artwork. Lessons, exhibits and opportunities to see local artists in action will take place throughout the summer. Open daily, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Chess & Board Games – Chess and an extensive selection of board games will be available for free play daily. Tournaments and opportunities for local promotions will take place throughout the summer. Open daily, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Pool & Ping Pong Tables – The Lounge will also be home to Pool and Ping Pong tables. Grab a pool stick or a paddle and challenge a friend or family member! Open daily, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Movable Tables & Chairs – New, versatile outdoor furniture will be available throughout the installments to engage in the activities, or simply watch, listen, and lounge.

Lounge for Kids

Mondays at 10:00 a.m., 11:00a.m., 12:00p.m.
Malik the Magic Guy teaches tricks so you can impress your friends with a show at10a.m. geared towards kids; all shows great for all ages.

Tuesdays at 10:00a.m.
Storytelling – Interactive tales spun by talented professional performers.

Wednesdays from 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m.
Kids’ Art – A guided project each week with varying types of art including painting, sketching, origami and more.

Fridays at 10:00a.m.
Kids’ Fitness – A fun fitness series especially for kids, but parents can jump in too! Try yoga, Zumba and other great classes.

Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.
Rosalita’s Puppets – Experience the magic of Rosalita’s puppets, with a new story and set of characters each week.

Fitness Classes

Select Mondays at 6:15p.m.

Tabata with Equinox– A courageous, daring, and dynamic conditioning experience: 20 second counts of high intensity training followed by 10 seconds of rest x 8 = 4 minute intervals utilizing just your body weight. All levels welcome!

Select Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m.

Reebok CrossFit Back Bay– Finish your day with a jump by following one of our instructors through a series of workout drills that will get your heart pumping and your body sweating!

Community Dance

Fourth Tuesday of the Month – Lessons from 6:00p.m. – 7:00p.m., Band from 7:00p.m. – 8:30p.m.

A free lesson will teach you all the moves you need to dance the night away to a live band. Tango, swing, square dancing, and more!

Onsite programming coordinators are accessible for information about upcoming events, as well as handing out gaming supplies. In addition to the immersive activities offered at each of the Lounge installments, there are daily Guided History Tours highlighting Quincy Market’s history and iconic architecture. Tours will start at 10:00 a.m. daily, and 2:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Fitness and dance classes will be held regularly throughout the summer.
