Obituary: Luigi N. Cogliani, North End

COGLIANI, Luigi N. 85, of Boston’s North End, formerly of
Grotto-Minarda, Italy, entered into the arms of our Lord April 3,
2010, surrounded by his family at home. Cherished son of the late
Saverio and Maria Teresa Cogliano. Loving husband of Angelina
(Solomita) Cogliani for 51 years. Loving father of Saverio,
Anthony, and Domenic Cogliani all of Boston. Cherished
grandfather of Angela Marie Cogliani of Billerica. Beloved
brother of Ceasre Cogliano of Italy, the late Rosaria LaGrassa,
and the late Miguel Cogliano. Mr. Cogliani emigrated to America
in 1961 to work for Garden State Celery Co. on Commercial St. in
the North End where he was employed for 30 years. The Cogliani
family would like to thank the DeMichaelis Family, the owners of
Garden State Celery Co. for their generosity and kindness. Luigi
also worked as a peddler down at Haymarket for over 30 years. He
served in the Italian Army during World War II as an infantry
soldier. Mr. Cogliani enjoyed spending time with his family and
playing cards with his friends down the bocce court.

Funeral from the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial Street
Thursday, April 8, at 8:45AM, followed by a funeral Mass at St.
Leonard Church on the corner of Hanover and Prince Streets at
9:45AM. Family will be accepting visitors from 4-8PM on
Wednesday. Entombment at St. Michael Cemetery in Boston. In lieu
of flowers please make donations in Mr. Cogliani’s memory to
Partners Hospice, 281 Winter St., Suite 200, Waltham, MA 02451 or
the North End Community Health Center, 332 Hanover Street,
