The “announcement” made international news and at 4:00 pm on Thursday the ground was actually shaking from the helicopters hovering over Faneuil Hall. After 20 years, Boston’s longest serving Mayor, Thomas M. Menino, made it official that he will not seek re-election for a sixth term.
