The “announcement” made international news and at 4:00 pm on Thursday the ground was actually shaking from the helicopters hovering over Faneuil Hall. After 20 years, Boston’s longest serving Mayor, Thomas M. Menino, made it official that he will not seek re-election for a sixth term. Mayor to Visit North End Head Start

On Tuesday, October 6th, Mayor Menino will tour the North End Head Start school and visit with some of the children. The mayor will also read to the children and participate in a number of other activities with them. The visit is scheduled for 11:15am at 9 Moon Street (at North Street).
