A building brick wall collapse on Thacher Court has left many North End residents out in the cold. An entire wall of the four story resident building collapsed on Sunday night / Monday morning, leaving a pile of bricks in the adjoining empty lot.

While the damage is assessed, several residents in abutting buildings have also been evacuated and are temporarily staying in hotels. Officials have the area blocked off with a fence and police lines.

The collapse and a reported gas line break caused a thundering noise throughout the neighborhood. One observer thought it was the start of a fireworks show, having seen the resulting debris cloud emanating from the space. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries.
