Drove into Boston to pick up dinner for the birthday boy and this is Hanover Street on a Saturday night. I’ve never seen it so empty on a Saturday night. And it’s St Patrick’s Day weekend. And it’s 55 degrees. Our favorite restaurant that we picked up the food from was about 75% empty. This is a mom-and-pop place that you need make reservations for weeks in advance. It was worth the drive to give them the business and see our favorite waitresses to let them know we support them (but sadly no hugs and kisses). We will get through this and it will take a long time but we have to patient and keep our social boundaries to slow down the spread of the virus. (I can’t say the masses of St Pats Day celebrants at the bars on Union St are doing their part of slowing it down though 🙄)
