Thank you to Matt and the folks volunteering to help. I’m a senior and my young neighbor helps me out all the time. It’s one of the nice benefits of living in a mixed age neighborhood. I also want to thank those businesses that help us out, I was offered a free meal yesterday!
Rebecca , just want to say thanks for your kind gesture.

Besides these wonderful people volunteering to help neighbors, which is one of the bright moments, Project Bread and the Greater Boston Food Bank need donations for all of the people losing income.
How wonderful to see the spirit of North Enders! So great of people to volunteer to help others…if there’s anything good to come out of this, this is it.Very heartwarming…I salute you!
Stay well,everyone…..
This is a great idea! I live in the North End and am working from home with a lot of free time starting 3/18. I would be happy to help with grocery shopping and errands for anyone who feels too vulnerable to go out. I don’t have a car but I do have a bicycle. Please email me at risaburr@gmail.com to arrange.
In East Boston, the soup kitchen is arranging meal vouchers through local establishments to help feed their population while the soup kitchen is closed- $15 tickets are at the restaurants and people can use them. Angela’s Cafe and My Pueblo Veijo are participating. I just tried to call Theos to set up a similar program but they are closing for two weeks. I know many elderly neighbors get their food from Theos and I’m sure other restaurants in the hood. Is there a restaurant in the North End setting up to distribute food? I’d like to but some people some meals.
My email is jennifermcgivern@hotmail.com
The end of last post should say that I’d like to buy some meals for people.
SM God bless all of those people who have offered to help the elderly and/or those who have health conditions. You are brave and kind and I pray all good things for you.
