3:00PM Kids’ LEGO Club. Drop by the North End Library after school to build whatever you can imagine using LEGOs and DUPLOs.

4:00PM BTU Homework Help at the North End Library. The Boston Teachers Union sponsors a Homework Helper program in each of the Boston Public Library branches. The BTU provides a teacher to help children with their homework for free.

6:00PM Book Signing at Catina Italiana by Marc Zappulla. Author Marc Zappulla will have a book signing on at Cantina Italiana, 346 Hanover Street, for Miami Underground and The Last Longshoreman, his crime fiction novels.

6:30PM Panel Discussion: Slavery an its Legacies at Old North. Stop by the Old North Church for a panel discussion on slavery and it’s legacies at Old North, see additional information here.

6:30PM Book Discussion club: Frankenstein. Stop by the North End Library for a book club discussion of Frankenstein. Copies of the book can be picked up and checked out at the library’s front desk.

7:00PM Film: Lady of Burlesque. Join the West End Museum at 150 Staniford St. for a film – Lady of Burlesque, see additional details here.

Banners Kitchen & Tap opened its door to the public last night getting a jump start on the majority of other businesses opening at the Hub on Causeway this year, read more on Boston.com.

Thursday, October 17

11:00AM Mah Jongg Club. Come by the North End Library and play the American-style variant of this tile-based game that originated in China and requires skill, strategy, and calculation. Beginners are welcome. No sign up is required. Weekly on Thursdays in October.

1:00PM Welcome Reception for New Citizens, Their Families & Friends. Welcome reception for brand new citizens at the Armenian Heritage Park following the Naturalization Ceremony at historic Faneuil Hall.

3:30PM Writing from Life with Author Susan Tan. Join author Susan Tan at the North End Library for a creative writing workshop for kids! Hear about how Susan brings real-life experiences into her fictional Cilla Lee-Jenkins book series, and use writing exercises to get started on your telling your own story. Ideal for kids 8-12 years old.

5:30PM Celebrate: 10 Years of The Greenway. Stop by Rings Fountain for a specially commissioned, site-specific dance performance.

6:15PM Dance Performance at Rings Fountain. Renowned choreographer Peter DiMuro and his ensemble Public Displays of Motion will perform their new work Waterway/Lightway/Greenway in and around the colored lights of the Rings Fountain at 6:15pm.

6:30PM “The Old Howard Theatre” Show Reception. Join the West End Museum at 150 Staniford Street and tour the exhibit and enjoy light refreshments. Free and open to the public.

Friday, October 18

1:00PM Friday Film: Dr. Strangelove (1964). Stop by the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street for their Friday Film Series. This Friday’s film will be Dr. Strangelove.

5:00PM Fall Pumpkin Float. Bring an 8-inch or smaller carved pumpkin to be lit and floated on the Boston Common Frog Pond for a spooky display! This free, family friendly event will also feature a haunted zombie maze, Spooky Mansion Slide, the Jumpin’ Pumpkin, bean bag toss and the “Bubble Guy”, see additional information here.
