Obituary: Thomas P. Kimball of the North End / Waterfront

Thomas P Kimball of Boston’s North End / Waterfront and Lewis Wharf passed away on September 23, 2019 in Boston from natural causes at the age of 57.

He was the son of Donald and Marie (Hickey) Kimball of Stonington. Tom grew up in Bloomfield, CT and Vermillion, OH and earned his BS at Bentley College in Waltham, MA. The Boston area became home to Tom and he lived in the Boston area ever since. He worked in technology at NDS/Versyss for 9 years, and then became an independent contractor working for multiple companies.

Tom was an avid music lover and a wonderful guitar player. He recently revived his love for fishing and could tell you all the hot spots where the fish were biting. Tom also enjoyed skiing and spending time during the winter in VT. Time spent with Tom was uplifting and he loved being with family and friends. Always positive, always upbeat, and always finding humor in things.

Besides his parents, Tom leaves behind his brother, Jim and his wife Sheila, his brother, Bob and his wife Joan, his niece and Goddaughter, Jennifer and many cousins and friends, including his dear friend Audrey Tortolani and his lifelong friend, Mike Leaska. He was predeceased by his sister Nan Swanson.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 2nd from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1 Mystic, CT followed by an 11:30 funeral mass at St. Mary Church, 95 Main St, in Stonington, CT.  A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or Club Passim, a nonprofit organization that supports and educates young musicians and was one of Tom’s favorite music venues. It is located in Cambridge, MA (www.passim.org)
