North End Photographer’s Climate Change Photos to be Presented at Annual Green Concert

On Wednesday, August 14, at 7 p.m. North End photographer David Arnold will present his climate comparison photographic essay on the Jumbotron at the DCR Memorial Hatch Shell as part of the Annual Green Concert.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra and the New England Aquarium have put together a moving and thought-provoking orchestral program paired with videos of the environmental impacts of climate change. Arnold’s work will be paired with Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings.

David Arnold has been photographing environmental change for several years. He shared this comparison study in 2012 of a glacier in Alaska and a coral reef off St. Croix.

Other performances at the Annual Green Concert will include the music of Vaughan Williams’s Sinfonia antartica—first conceived as a film score—accompanying a new film shot entirely in Antarctica. See the full list below.

This concert is free and open to the public. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and a picnic. Rain Date will be Thursday, August 15. If it rains on August 15 as well, the concert will be at First Church in Cambridge, 11 Garden St., Cambridge, MA 02138.

  1. I’ve had a sneak preview. Trust me, this will linger with you. His larger exhibit traveled the country for five years without a musical accompaniment. This is a whole new dimension in communicating its meaning. Of course, I’m a little biased…
