Join photographers Peter Vanderwarker and Neal Rantoul for a behind the scenes tour of their current photo exhibitions at BSA Space. After the tour, enjoy wine and snacks with the artists while having a chance for one-one-one questions.
Surface Tension, on display in the Storefront Gallery on the first floor, is a collection of photographs from Peter Vanderwarker that explore the nature of surfaces, in both the built and the natural environment.
“While chasing a soap bubble around the Piazza Puopolo in Rome with my camera, I noticed that the surface of that soap bubble did extraordinary things to an already beautiful urban space. I decided to make a series of photographs that explore the ideas of distortion, reflection, opacity, and invisibility,” says Peter Vanderwarker.
Boston Up, in the Harbor and Channel Rooms on the second floor display a series of architectural photographs from Neal Rantoul exploring a look up at Boston from the summer of 1982.
Neal Rantoul comments: “When I shot this series in Boston during the summer of 1982, I was testing infrared film. It gave the images an odd, surreal glow that I swiftly became invested in.”
