
This week’s photo is of Faneuil Hall’s famous grasshopper weather vane. It’s rather fitting that this image resurfaced this month because last week was the anniversary of the grasshopper being stolen from its perch back on January 4, 1974. As the story goes, a few days after the grasshopper was reported missing, police received a tip that it had been hidden inside Faneuil Hall’s cupola! It was then recovered and returned to its proper location. Interestingly enough, this wasn’t the first time the grasshopper had been moved. Read more about its adventures here.
