Eliot School Kindergartners Study Boats at the Wharves; Donate to Food Pantry

A group of kindergarteners from the North End Eliot School took their studies outside the classroom last week to learn from the world around them.

K1 students from the Eliot School’s Yellow, Orange and Silver rooms headed to the waterfront last Friday where they viewed, discussed and sketched boats at Lewis Wharf and Union Wharf. This mini field trip kicked off their next learning unit about wind and water. Students were asked about the types of boats they saw, what they thought the boats might be used for, and how the wind was affecting the sails.

In the afternoon, Eliot kindergartners visited the ABCD North End / West End Neighborhood Service Center to donate food to their pantry. Through this trip, these young learners saw the importance of giving to the community firsthand.

  1. That’s wonderful of the children and their families to give to the food pantry. And kudos to the teachers who encouraged it…a great life lesson that will make the world a better place.
