The first annual North End meatball competition, taking place this Saturday, August 18, will be judged by Joe Faro, Founder & Chief Food Taster of Tuscan Kitchen & Tuscan Market; Dave Andelman, Founder & CEO of Phantom Gourmet; and Joe Crugnale, Founder of Bertucci’s.
Feast attendees can purchase a $5 ticket to sample meatballs from 13 participating restaurants and cast their vote for the best meatball from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tony V and Angela Peri will emcee this public tasting event.
Then, the restaurants with the top-five most votes will move into the final round of competition. At 6:30 p.m. the meatballs still standing will be presented to the celebrity judges – Faro, Andelman, and Crugnale. The winner will take home the “North End’s Best Meatball” trophy.
Participating restaurants include: Antico Forno; Aria Trattoria; Bricco; Carmelina’s; La Famiglia Giorgio’s; La Summa; North Street Grille; Prezza; Riccardo’s; Ristorante Limoncello; Strega; Tony & Elaine’s; and Tresca. The competition will take place at the corner of Lewis and North Streets in the North End.
