Things to know for Thursday

Today is Thursday, April 5th – otherwise known as the official opening day for the Red Sox back at Fenway Park! If you can’t make today’s game, be sure to check out the rest of their season schedule for a fun time out with friends or family. 

Here’s what else you need to know for Thursday…

3:45PM Fiber Arts at the North End Library. Children ages 7-10 are invited to participate in a variety of techniques to create projects while learning about the cultures and artists that use these methods. Register in advance by calling 617-227-8135.

6:00PM Dock Square Garage Public Meeting. There will be a public meeting at one City Hall Square in the BPDA Board Room on the 9th floor as the proponent proposes to retain the Exiting Building and its current parking garage and more to construct a new ten-level residential addition.

6:00PM NE Public Safety Meeting. Join Boston Police Area A-1 at the Nazzaro Center at 30 N. Bennet Street as all North End / Waterfront residents are welcome to attend the public safety meeting.

The international bakery brand, Magnolia Bakery, was first made famous when it was featured on an episode of HBO’s “Sex and the City”, but chief baking officer Bobbie Lloyd is really the one responsible for growing the business into a great success. 11:00AM Little Groove Concert at the North End Library. Join the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street as children are invited to interact with parachutes, puppets, instruments and more as they learn and play in a fun musical environment.

6:00PM NEMPAC Youth Troupe Auditions – NEMPAC Opera Project. NEMPAC is seeking 8 young performers ages 9-13 to audition for Don Giovanni under the direction of Rebecca Miller. 10:30AM I Piccoli Lettori.  Join I AM Books at 189 North Street for its Italian reading group for children ages 0-4. 11:00AM Dog Licensing at RUFF Dog Park. Did you know that it is a requirement by the City of Boston and RUFF to license your dog in order to use the dog park? RUFF makes it easy by allowing you to register online or stop by the park at Prince Street and Snow Hill on April 7th. Proof of rabies vaccination required as well as a check or money order payment of up to $30.

1:00PM Creative Kitchens Tour of Beacon Hill & Back Bay. This year’s tour offers a look at kitchens from cozy country to sleek contemporary in eight Beacon Hill and Back Bay 19th century townhouses.
