On Saturday, May 20th, residents voted to fill six vacant seats in the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council. This year, the NEWNC election saw a low turnout of voters because there were only six candidates running for six open seats, making the race not competitive.

All of the candidates listed above will be serving a two-year term on the council. The other six members on the council have one more year left in their term. The rest of the 12-person council includes Michael Bonetti, Danielle D’Ambrosio, John Pregmon, Gennaro Riccio, Brett Roman and Marie Simboli.

NEWNC members, John Pregmon, Michael Bonetti, and Brett Roman ran the election on May 20th

The first NEWNC meeting with the new council members is scheduled for Monday, June 13, 2016. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 N. Bennet Street, North End, Boston.

About the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC)
NEWNC was created in 1985 by the Mayor’s Office in an effort to increase communication between the neighborhoods and city agencies. NEWNC is comprised of twelve North End/Waterfront residents who serve as an advisory board to the City of Boston in municipal affairs. Council members are elected to a two-year term and terms are staggered so that six seats are filled each year. The Council meets on the second Monday of each month.
