No Backing Down is the true story of the 1994 Salem High school football team, which was composed of players from the most challenged personal circumstances. The book recaps miracle victories in the face of the obstacles of a Halloween Day teacher’s strike and a superintendent publicly declaring their coach to be equal to cult leaders Jim Jones of the Guyana mass suicide and David Koresh of the Waco Texas massacre. It is an incredible story about the power sports can have in a community, the power of a team when they work together toward a goal, and serves as a story of great inspiration for athletes – young and old – never to give up, never to back down.
Currently, a screenplay is being developed to turn “No Backing Down” story into a feature film. Famed screenwriter of Hoosiers and Rudy, Angelo Pizzo, is working to bring the story to life.
