Battery Wharf Hotel Receives Support for New Function Room

Representing Battery Wharf Hotel, General Manager Peter Sulow and Attorney Joe Devlin returned to North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) for support in turning a vacant second floor space into a function room. The request comes after last year’s licensing transition from Fairmont to Westmont Hospitality.

The new function room will be located on the second floor of “Building 2” which is on the corner of Commercial Street and Battery Wharf. The room adjoins the curved 2nd floor balcony that will remain publicly accessible as part of the property’s Chapter 91 license agreements.

The request is to alter the existing alcohol and entertainment licenses to permit both in the new space. No outdoor live entertainment is included in the request (all live entertainment will be indoors). The new 2nd floor function room will add to the main ballrooms which are under the hotel. Primary uses will include weddings and corporate events. The hotel’s existing licenses allow for alcohol service until 2:00 a.m. although management expects most functions to end before midnight.

A representative from the condo board at Battery Wharf spoke in support after previously working out details on behalf of their residents.  As part of the changes, Building 5, closest to Lincoln Wharf, is being removed from the application for the licensed premises at the request of Lincoln Wharf neighbors.

After the discussion, NEWRA voted 33-3 in support of the requested liquor and entertainment licensing for the new function room at Battery Wharf Hotel.
