A new coffee shop and cafe is being proposed by Golden Goose Market owner, Steve DeAngelis at 65 Atlantic Avenue, across the street from the Sail Loft. The proponent, represented by Attorney William Ferullo, presented this week at the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC). The plans require a change in occupancy from real estate office/bank to include restaurant use with takeout. Michael Dello Russo is the contractor.
The property owner had heard that Dunkin’ Donuts was looking at the space and contacted the Golden Goose owner to see if he was interested in doing a coffee shop/cafe instead. There will be 36 seats with hours from 6am to 8pm. The entryway will be on the Atlantic Avenue corner of the building with plans including outdoor seating as shown below. There is no request for an alcohol license.
The proposal was unanimously supported by NEWNC. Plans are shown below of the property including the alleyway. Trash will use the existing facilities at the Golden Goose market with anticipated upgrades to the alley. A new air filtration system will be used to keep odors from blowing outside the coffee shop, avoiding the need for a roof vent.
The abutting Prince Building supported the venture, as did others at the city’s abutters meeting with many speaking highly of the 40-year old Golden Goose operations. View the video above for more information, including the presentation and discussion at NEWNC.
