The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, along with the proponents of 88 North Washington St, invites surrounding neighbors and community groups of this address to a meeting to discuss a proposal of new construction of a new 39,999 gsf structure with a 13 level, 74 key hotel on a 2,159 sf parcel on the corner of North Washington Street and Valenti way in the Bulfinch Triangle district.
Public Meeting Presentation: May 11th, 6:30 p.m. at the Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St.
Pretty slick of the City of Boston to change the West/North End area to the “Bulfinch Triangle”. This allowed developers to build above 55 feet high and change that area into a commercial disaster zone. Building a hotel on approximately 2500 square foot parcel? What will the room sizes be?
Completely agree, Sonny. The city does this all the time. Then they call this collection of ugly high rises a “neighborhood”. Do they understand what a neighborhood is?
Good post.
I also understand that there will be no parking with this Hotel. Where are the patrons going to park? Is the City going to sell more resident spaces to the hotel so they can park cars. This is when I wish I were still a resident of the North End. I would fight this development. Also how long will it be before they change the zoning within the North End so they can build higher buildings.
NIck I am glad you agree with me.
Enough is enough. As a Causeway St. resident I have been and will continue to be for the next three years, victimized by the loss of safe sidewalk passage, continuous traffic detours, and ongoing parking violators for every Garden event. What is the next zoning euphemism allowed by the BRA & current Walsh administration to continue to “bastardize” the character of the West/North End?
IT IS WITH DEEP REGRET THAT I POSTED MY THOUGHTS ON THE PROPOSED HOTEL AT 88 WASHINGTON STREET WITHOUT LOOKING INTO ALL THE POSITIVE’S ABOUT THE PROJECT. WE SHOULD THINK BEFORE PUTTING THINGS IN WRITING AND I DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE PROJECT THEREFORE SHOULD NOT HAVE COMMENTED ON IT.
THE NEW BULFINCH TRIANGLE AREA HAS ADDED MUCH VALUE TO THE AREA AND WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE REVENUE IN THAT SECTION. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE I MAY HAVE CAUSED.
.
Sounds like your email has been hacked, Sonny.
Your first comment was spot on, the city is focused on giving developers whatever they want, bigger and taller buildings.
Sixty years ago the BRA destroyed the West End with a wrecking ball. Today they are trying to destroy the North End/Waterfront by surrounding it with huge residential buildings. This increased density will make life in the North End ever more difficult. They are strangling our neighborhood with high rises.
