Three Things and a Photo Friday: Taste of the North End, Book Sale, St. Francis House & New Monica’s

TGIF! Welcome to “Three Things and a Photo”, something new we’re testing on NorthEndWaterfront.com! This is your daily post for all the breaking news, event updates and community tidbits. And of course, it wouldn’t be NorthEndWaterfront.com, without a neighborhood photo! Let us know in the comments if you like this type of daily rundown or have suggestions.

Three Things to Know for Friday, April 29, 2016:

  1. Friday night is the 23rd Taste of the North End! The festivities start at 7:00 p.m. at the Steriti Skating Rink, 561 Commercial Street in Boston’s North End. Over 40 North End restaurants, bakeries and area wine/beer vendors will be serving up their best tastes. KISS-108 and NESN’s Dining Playbook host Billy Costa will emcee the evening, that benefits local non-profit groups, organizations, schools, and senior programs, including North End Waterfront Health, the Eliot School, St. John School, North End Against Drugs, North End Athletic Association, and North End Music and Performing Arts Center. Visit www.totne.org for more information.
  2. Got books? Save the date for the Annual Book Sale at the North End Branch Library, May 14th, 10am-2pm. If you have any signed or very old books, contact the Friends directly for pickup at info@friendsnelibrary.org – do NOT leave books at the library. Since the Friends annual fundraiser had to be cancelled, please consider contributing to help keep up our local library. Your donations pay for programs, gardening, library equipment, children’s supplies for Ms. Jennifer and many other projects! Donate here.
  3. North End Friends of St. Francis House Homeless Shelter send out a BIG THANK YOU to all who took part in the Annual Flea Market & Bake Sale. JR, Olivia and Kathy reported that a check for $20,351 was delivered yesterday to St. Francis House, the most money ever raised by this event.
