The Spring weather has arrived and its time to get out on the Rose Kennedy Greenway parks! Greenway Conservancy Executive Director Jesse Brackenbury and Chief of Staff Michael Nichols, presented plans for this season’s programming, infrastructure work and public art at recent neighborhood meetings.
Last year brought some significant renovations, including a major horticulture revamp at one of the North End parks (Parcel 8, along Surface Road). Several hardscape fixes were also made including bricks and lights along the Freedom Trail on the Greenway. Most popular have been the pergola swings installed at both North End parks. The $400,000 renovation by the Conservancy included funding from the Mass. Cultural Council.
New public art features include the text-based piece by Matthew Hoffman on Parcel 12 and the upcoming Chinese Zodiac heads around the Rings Fountain. A new to-be-announced project is planned later this year for the lawn at the corner of Cross and North Streets.
