North End Chef Jose Duarte at Joslin’s “A Taste of Ginger”

Chef/Owner of North End’s Taranta, Jose Duarte, served up a mouthwatering Patagonian shrimp salad with red quinoa & rocoto pepper at Joslin Diabetes Center’s 12th annual “A Taste of Ginger” event at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Celeb chefs Jose Duarte, Ming Tsai, Joanne Chang, Karen Akunowicz and Jasper White were among nearly 30 Boston-area chefs who participated in Joslin Diabetes Center’s 12th annual A Taste of Ginger event, which raised about $300,000 for Joslin’s Asian American Diabetes Initiative (AADI).

Over 400 supporters and foodies gathered at the beautiful MFA for a lively evening of meeting and tasting the delectable cuisine of Boston’s most celebrated chefs, such as the Patagonian shrimp salad created by North End Chef Jose Duarte (Taranta Restaurant on Hanover Street), which was perfectly prepared with flavorful red quinoa and rocoto pepper.

Emceed by WBUR’s Meghna Chakrabarti, the evening honored Joslin’s Dr. William Hsuand longtime “A Taste of Ginger” committee member, Bik-Fung Ng.  All funds raised from this event go toward the AADI’s mission to enhance the quality of life and health outcomes for the rising number of Asian Americans living with diabetes.
