Friends of the North End “South” Gather for 8th Annual Reunion

On Sunday, March 6th, seventy-one North Enders assembled in Del Ray Beach, Fl. to celebrate the 8th annual reunion of the Friends of the North End South. The reunion is organized by Camille and Louie Gilardi each year. Their time and effort in keeping this tradition ongoing is sincerely appreciated by all those who attended.

The long distant attendees were Frank Capizzi, his daughter, Desiree and her dearest friend, Frank Brewer from Arizona. The winner of this year’s trivia question was Domenic Piso. He knew the name of the street with only two buildings that runs between Stillman and Cross Streets. Life long North Ender, Patty La Rosa, came in a very close second!!

photo 1Victor Passacantilli talked about the restaurants in the North End during 50s and 60s and challenged the group to recall how many ”table cloth restaurants” there were then and what they all had in common. We will leave those challenges open to the readers for discussion.

Ron Fuccillo read his poem about his beloved neighborhood and Gus Pesaturo discussed the phenomenon of life long friendships. Octogenarians in attendance were: Lugi Lanzilla, Frank Di Masi, Joseph Galante, Anne Pedi and Frank Capizzi. West Enders present were Lucille Giganti, James Smith, Ray Capobianco, Richie and Billy Settipane.

The guests were cheerful, the food was great and the ambience and camaraderie were heartwarming.
