Boston Fire responded to underground manhole fires likely caused by cold-related transformer troubles in the North End and East Boston on Sunday, according to Eversource.
Approximately 100 people lost power due to an underground manhole fire near the intersection of Prince and Salem Streets in the North End.
Electrical equipment troubles are also believed to have caused a fire at Harris and Bennington Streets in Eastie, where multiple manholes were seen blowing up. About 200 homes lost power.
Red Cross is responding to those without power in the frigid temperatures.
