North End CityFeast Raises Over $35k for Joslin Diabetes Center

Over 200 supporters turned out for the 11th annual CityFeast: Dining Out to Conquer Diabetes, a unique dining event held at 9 restaurants in Boston’s North End benefitting Joslin Diabetes Center’s High Hopes Fund.

Restaurateur and North End native Carla Agrippino Gomes started CityFeast in 2005 to show her dedication and appreciation to Joslin after her son David was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on his first birthday; David is now 25 years old.

CityFeast guests enjoyed five-course prix fixe menus with wine pairings at a selection of restaurants, including Antico Forno, Aria Trattoria, Bricco Ristorante, Lucca, Lucia, Strega North End, Taranta, Terramia Ristorante, and Tresca.

This year’s menus included diabetes-friendly dishes in support of Joslin’s ongoing effort to encourage restaurants to add a “DF” symbol for diabetes-friendly to menus, making dining out choices easier for the 29 million Americans living with diabetes.

The event raised over $35,000 for Joslin’s High Hopes Fund, which benefit’s Joslin’s greatest needs in clinical care and research for a cure.
