North End Music & Performing Arts Center is excited to present another evening of love songs from the American Songbook with you. Here is some information about how it all began and what to expect this Friday!
THE HISTORY:
The “Amore” Concert, or then known as the “Italian Opera Concert”, started in February 2011 at the Old North Church. The attendance from the community was astonishing with standing room only! Family, neighbors and members of the broader community of Boston came out to hear talented and professional singers deliver a strong operatic program focused on love. After much success, Amore is now celebrating its 6th rendition. This year the performance will take place at St. Stephen’s Church.
THE MUSIC:
Each year NEMPAC cracks open the American songbook to curate a new repertoire of love songs. This year features pieces composed by George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, and more. Traditional songs including: “That’s Amore”, “I Get A Kick Out Of You”, and “The Way You Look Tonight”.
THE SINGERS:
This year’s performance will feature local talent: Lori L’Italien, Andrew Miller, and Rebecca Rapoport-Cole. Stay tuned for more information about our singers!
