The City of Boston Archives posted these seasonal throwback photos of the 1974 North End Christmas Parade, originally taken by one of Mayor White’s staff photographers. Robert “Ted” Tomasone was still organizing things back then and of course, Santa arrived by helicopter.

Thanks for the nice photos Matt. I love black and white photos. I especially liked the picture of Charter St. The shed in Copps Hill Terrace is gone now. Love the old cars back then.
what’s the tower behind santa’s helicopter, looks like where langone playground is now?
I think it’s the old fire house. The tower was used to dry hoses.
Nolan, I remember that tower. My family lived on Jackson Ave. I think it was for the Boston Harbor Police.
