The City of Boston updated the community on the Eliot School construction schedule, highlighting progress with impacts on the community during the upcoming months.

Noteworthy points from the update:

After a difficult demolition phase, work on the foundation is done and steel is currently being erected to get the structural element completed before the winter. Masonry and roof work is being tightened up and windows are set to be installed in the next couple of months.

The work around North Bennett Street is wrapping up. However, residents can expect delays to continue on Salem and Tileston Streets over the next several months. As of now, utility work on Salem Street is near completion, consisting of new water lines, electric and gas services, the last element is Verizon who is pulling permits to start work as soon as possible.  The interior work will begin once the building is weather-tight.

Monday October 5th – Salem Street will be staged, impacting the sidewalk in front of building on Salem Street for two months.

Next spring and summer, new sidewalks will be put in around the building perimeter.

Despite some minor setbacks, the project is still on target to be completed by September 2016.
