Welcome to Orchard, the skateboard, footwear and apparel shop opening this week on the North End waterfront at 438 Commercial Street. The new store adds to the company’s flagship location in Allston (complete with a miniramp and art gallery) and relocates its Newbury Street shop to the North End neighborhood. Orchard is 100% skateboarder owned and operated, supporting the local skate scene. Reflecting the Orchard design style, the store uses reclaimed wood, granite blocks, pipe castings and VHS bricks.
Co-owner Armin Bachman said the North End location will support skateboarders coming downtown and going to Boston’s new skate park, long delayed but now expected to open in November 2015 under the Zakim Bridge. Located two doors down from Hanover Street and across from the US Coast Guard Station, the skate shop is also close to major connections via North Station and the Charlestown Bridge.
