The Patriots and placekicker Stephen Gostkowski agreed to terms on a 4-year $17.2 million deal. The team had placed its franchise tag on Gostkowski back in March. Gostkowski is coming off a pro-bowl year in which he connected on 35-of-37 field goal attempts and a perfect 51-of-51 on PAT’s (Point After Touchdowns)

Brady decision coming soon?

The verdict by his “honor” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in regards to Tom Brady’s suspension may be released as early as this week. After meeting with Brady at NFL headquarters in New York City last month, Goodell now needs to decide if the Well’s report found enough evidence against Brady to uphold the four-game suspension. The Commissioner finds himself in a compromised position as an arbitrator he assigned to review the recent suspension of Cowboys defensive lineman Greg Hardy reduced Hardy’s suspension from 10 games to four. Hardy’s suspension stems from his assault on his girlfriend, which included dragging her by the hair and tossing her onto a pile of rifles. Nice guy, huh?

With Brady, Goodell has a player that represents how one should comport himself on and off the football field. Sure Brady has been known to be overzealous in petitioning flags from refs, not to mention his sideline language, but these are minor infractions compared to the murderers, domestic deviants and just plain dumb athletes that call the league home. The NFL has in Brady a player it can promote. “Hey fans, we’re not all bad!”

Revis & Browner offensive contributors?

Recently ESPN.com published an interesting read regarding the affect that losing corners Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner will have on the 2015 Patriots. According to chief Patriots writer and ESPN NFL analyst Mike Reiss, the affect may be felt on the offensive side as much as on the defense. Wide Receiver Brandon LaFell is quoted as saying that practices against that duo last season prepared the Patriots offense down the stretch of the regular season and playoffs. “You have to go out there against those guys and play to another level every day in practice. When it came to game time, you practiced against Revis and Browner. If you are successful against those two, you can pretty much get open on anybody else.”

NFL Networks top 100 players of 2015

Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady came in at number 3 on the NFL Network’s annual top 100 list. Tom finished behind Houston Texans linebacker J.J. Watt and Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Tight End Rob Gronkowski finished in the number 10 spot on the list.
