Pizzeria Regina Parent Company Files for Bankruptcy; No Impact on North End Location

Pizzeria Regina, the longstanding North End institution, saw its parent file for bankruptcy this week, as reported in the Boston Globe.

But North End Regina Pizza lovers should not fret! The company has made it clear the original Thacher Street location will remain open along with most of its other locations in Boston.

Four of the mall stores will close (Watertown, N. Attleboro, Nashua NH and Manchester NH) that are owned by parent Boston Restaurant Associates, Inc. in order to get out of leases. The company said business has moved away from traditional food courts in malls.

“The company is quite strong, but these particular stores have become problematic,” said the company through their public relations firm.

To boot, a new Regina Pizza will open in the Longwood area soon. There currently are 17 stores, including two Polcari’s Italian Restaurants.
