Events: Spring Cleaning, Parks Committee and Public Safety Meetings, “Dare to Dream” Auction & Gala

Too cold to go outside? That excuse no longer works! With spring in the air, the first full week of May 2015 brings several events and meetings to the North End / Waterfront: 

Monday, May 4

5:00pm NEAD Scholarship Application Deadline – Nazzaro Center, 30 North Bennet Street
Rules & Regulations Applicant must be a North End Resident who is attending school (Proof of residency is required. Must provide a letter from the school verifying North End Residency.) Scholarships are awarded from Kindergarten thru College. Scholarships are for the 2015-2016 Academic year, and proof of matriculation must be present in order for the N.E.A.D to release funds. Tuition based school winners will receive a check payable to their school. View the event post.

5:00pm Nominations Papers Due for NEWNC Election at Nazzaro Center, 30 North Bennet Street
The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) is holding their annual election on Saturday, May 16, 2015, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Nazzaro Community Center. All North End/Waterfront residents age 18 and older are eligible to run for one of the 6 seats to be filled in this year’s election. View details.

Tuesday, May 5

7:00pm Parks Committee (NEWRA) Meeting at Mariner’s House, 11 North Square
Join the NEWRA Parks Committee in looking out for our neighborhood parks. The committee meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month, more information at NEWRA.org.

Thursday, May 7

6:00pm NE Public Safety Meeting – Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet Street
Open to the public, these meetings are attended by Boston Police Area A-1  Notethis month’s meeting starts at 6pm.

Friday, May 8

6:00pm St. John School “Dare to Dream” Auction & Gala [Fairmont Battery Wharf, Battery Wharf]
St. John School 2015 “Dare to Dream Auction & Gala” will be held at the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel. Tickets are $120 per person, view the event post for more event details.

Saturday, May 9

10:00am Boston Shines – North End Cleanup Meets at Prado [Paul Revere Mall, Hanover Street]
To lend a helping hand with cleaning the neighborhood, meet at the Prado (Paul Revere Mall) on Hanover Street where the Paul Revere Statue is located. View the event post.

1:00pm Summer Saturdays at The Paul Revere House – 19 North Square, Boston
Special events on Saturday afternoons in May will feature craft demonstrations, historical talks, live music, and more in the Paul Revere House courtyard, weather permitting. Included with admission to the museum. View the event post.
