St. John School held a fundraiser last week for our new science lab at Riccardo’s Ristorante, which was a huge success and a sellout, not to mention a great night … we had an “explosive” good time!
The lab will be installed in the coming weeks and will be used to further enhance our science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. We are now in the process of equipping the lab with an incubator, microscopes, thermometers, pipettes, test tubes, beakers funnels, cylinders and petri dishes.
This science lab means a great deal to the future of the students of St. John School. It will give our students an opportunity to put Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) into action with hands on experiments and activities which will guide students as they ask questions and actively seek answers. It is very important to get students engaged with a science curriculum in their education, especially in elementary school. This science lab will ensure their future success in our ever increasing life science and technical science world.
Principal Karen McLaughlin stated, “A huge thank you to everyone involved in the building of the science lab for our St. John School students. This lab represents a great investment in our student’s science curriculum and expands their STEM education by providing them with a critical 21st century foundation that they will need for their future success.”
Many thanks to the parents who attended as well as those that made a donation. We would also like to thank Riccardo’s Ristorante for being such a generous host for our event.
Special thanks goes out to the SJS Board for all of their hard work in making the science lab a reality for our students!
Check out a few pictures from the evening.
