Former North End resident,  Regional Review Editor At Large, Phil Orlandella recently received the Nazzaro Center / North End Athletic Association’s first ever Pioneer Award for the many programs, he sponsored and directed over the 50 years of the non-profit agencies.

The award is named in honor of the late Dom Campocchiaro who was a charter member of the Association and also was involved with the establishment of numerous sports programs and coaching and directing them. Dom was the longest running President of the NEAA.

Orlandella was presented the award at the NEAA/Nazzaro Center Basketball Banquet, held in the Filippo’s Ristorante on Causeway Street.

Besides participating in all sports activities, Phil was the President of the NEAA, Director of Little League, the Baseball Clinic, the Babe Ruth League, 21 team Softball League and a 18 team Basketball League.

“I received many awards in the past but the latest one is always the best,” Orlandella said.
