Events: Neighborhood Council Meeting, Boston Living Water Exhibition, Improving the Greenway’s North End Parks


With the temperature hovering in the high 30’s, many may think spring is here! Although the cold is supposed to return for the work week, take a look at some of the following events.

Monday, February 23

7:00pm NEWNC Monthly Meeting – Nazzaro Center, 30 North Bennet Street [Rescheduled Date]
In addition to the normal meeting agenda, hear from Boston City Councilor at Large Michael Flaherty, Battery Wharf Hotel, and the North End Beautification Committee will discuss their recent and planned efforts to clean up and improve the appearance of the neighborhood. View event post.

5:30pm Greenway Public Art Briefing at Boston Harbor Hotel – Rowes Wharf [70 Rowes Wharf, Boston]
Greenway / Echelman Public Art Installation Information Session, Co-Hosted by Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy & Wharf District Council. Preview renderings of Boston’s most ambitious public art project ever and have your questions answered by Greenway Conservancy staff and internationally renowned local artist Janet Echelman. 3:00pm Downtown Waterfront MHP Committee Meeting at Atlantic Wharf, 290 Congress Street
View powerpoint presentations and material from prior meeting. This meeting includes a review of the Old Northern Avenue Bridge.

6:00pm Italian Film: Tosca’s Kiss (1984) at North End Library
Italian Film: IL BACIO DI TOSCA “Tosca’s Kiss” (1984) Meet the inhabitants of the “Casa di Riposa” in Milan, the world’s first nursing home for retired opera singers, founded by composer Giuseppe Verdi in 1896. Runtime of 80 minutes.

6:00pm Boston Living with Water Exhibition at BSA Space, 290 Congress Street
Organizers of the Boston Living with Water International Design Competition, a partnership between the City of Boston, The Boston Harbor Association, the Boston Redevelopment Authority, and the Boston Society of Architects, will host an exhibition of the competition submissions. 6:30pm Meeting: Improving the Greenway’s North End Parks at Nazzaro Center
The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy invites members of the public to a community meeting on forthcoming improvements to the Greenway’s North End Parks. This meeting follows the Community Workshop held in the North End in March 2014 and will provide updated information on the scheduled park improvements. Saturday, February 28

7:30pm NEMPAC Valentine’s Day Opera Concert “AMORE” [193 Salem Street, Boston] 
Come to the Amore Opera Concert, where NEMPAC and The Old North Church are collaborating to create an elegant and romantic setting for music lovers. Old North Church musical director, Libor Dudas, along with several of the church and NEMPAC’s finest singers hope to enhance your night with arias about romance and love.
