Monday, October 13 Columbus Day

11:00am Columbus Day Celebration at Christopher Columbus Park
Parade through the park to kick off the Columbus Day Celebration. All are invited to parade through the park escorted by Christopher Columbus on Stilts Wreath-laying Ceremony at the Statue of Christopher Columbus. Activities will include a raffle, Jenny the Juggler, face painting, Big Joe the storyteller, Jim the Bubble Guy, Peter O’Malley the Magician And More! Event Post.

Tuesday, October 14

4:00pm Commercial St. Area Engagement Walk at Commercial and Battery Street
Neighborhood Coordinator, Nicole Leo, from the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invites all residents and business owners to join her on a Neighborhood Engagement Walk. Meet at the corner of Commercial and Battery Streets, feel free to show up for the walk or contact Nicole Leo at nicole.leo@boston.gov.

6:00pm Two If By Sea: Old North Foundation Fundraiser [193 Salem St, Boston]
Join us in celebrating the history, legacy, and future of a beloved national treasure – the Old North Church. Two if By Sea, an annual fundraising event, brings civic, museum, and business leaders together in support of the Old North Foundation, the nonprofit steward of the Old North Church historic site. RUFF – Responsible Urbanites for Fido will host their monthly meeting regarding a pilot dog park to the mid-levels of the flights at DiFilippo Park, view post or visit the RUFF North End Facebook Page.

6:00pm Film: Rehearsal for a Sicilian Tragedy at North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street
Films for Italian Heritage Month presents a Rehearsal for a Sicilian Tragedy, actor John Turturro takes audiences on an intimate journey to his maternal homeland of Sicily. There, while exploring the island’s vanishing traditions, he is taken under the wing of one of the puppet theater’s few remaining practitioners. Run time: 70 minutes.

6:30pm The West End Museum Italian Film Series: The Other Pompeii: Life and Death in Herculaneum
[West End Museum, 150 Staniford St, Suite 7, Boston] Professor Andrew Wallace-Hadrill presents a documentary following the scientific investigation that aims to lift the lid on what life was like in the small Roman town of Herculaneum, moments before it was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. All screenings are free and open to the public; pre-registration is required.

Friday, October 17

10:00am USS Constitution Underway Last Time at Boston Harbor
Catch the boat before it heads to dry dock, the USS Constitution Museum will be offering a 60-minute guided tour aboard “Old Ironsides” that explores her previous and upcoming restorations. Tours cost $5.00 and start promptly at 2:00 PM. Please be aware that you must have a government issued photo I.D. to go aboard USS Constitution, more information.
