North End Baseball: Lopriore Dazzles Then Crushes

Vin Lopriore threw 5 innings of two hit ball allowing zero earned runs and striking out nine as the 21u NEAA Dodgers beat Framingham 6-1 to run their record to 2-0. Lopriore had a tough act to follow after Bilikas’ opening day gem but he was more than up for the task. With his blazing fastball and knee-buckling curve Lopriore baffled Framingham hitters all day.

As good as Lopriore was the Dodgers found themselves in a 1-1 tie entering the top of the 6th inning. Joan Figueroa led off the inning with a walk and up stepped Lopriore. Vin got hold of a fastball and drilled it over the left fielders head to set the Dodgers up with 2nd and 3rd and no out. Mike Martignetti (2 hits) was hit with a pitch to load the bases but that didn’t last long as Steve Passatempo laced his 3rd hit of the game driving in two runs and putting the Dodgers in control. After an out, Jack Ditomassi singled in two more runs and the Dodgers were on their way to a 2-0 start. In addition to his five dominant innings Vin also had 3 hits. Newwcomer Pat Murray also chipped in with a pair of hits. Ryan Colbert pitched two scoreless innings to nail down the victory.

The Dodgers next play Waltham in a two game series Friday and Sunday with both games at 8pm.
