Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) Election Set For May 17th; Nomination Papers Available April 25th

The 2014 election date for the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) has been announced as May 17, 2014.

NEWNC Election
Saturday, May 17, 2014
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St.

Nominations forms will be available starting Friday, April 25, at the Nazzaro Center front desk beginning at 10 am. Signatures from 40 North End/Waterfront residents are required to be included on the ballot.

The deadline to turn in completed nomination papers is May 9, 2014 at 5pm at the Nazzaro Center desk.

Candidates will have an opportunity to speak at the May 12, 2014 monthly NEWNC meeting.

There are six spots open for election out of the twelve council seats. Each term is for two years. Four incumbents have declared their intention to run for reelection: Ryan Kenny, John Pregmon, Gennaro Riccio, and Anne Devlin Tagliaferro. Toni Gilardi and Marie Simboli have not expressed intention yet.

The five NEWNC members entering the second year of their term include: Philip Frattaroli, Maria Lanza, David Marx, Jorge Mendoza and Ralph Verrocchi. In accordance to NEWNC bylaws, the seat held by Stephen Passacantilli will be filled when it comes up for reelection in 2015.
